Brooklyn at one month

We had Brooklyn's 1 month follow-up this morning. She's packing on the pounds and growing the centimeters and did so well getting her shot. Greg was able to come to the appointment and swept her up after her shot and she calmed down instantly! Some things she's been doing recently:
  • continues to hold her head up longer and longer while on her tummy
  • making eye contact for longer periods of time and tracking from side to side
  • smiling when she hears/sees me or Greg
  • taking weight through her legs and pushing herself into standing with support
  • continues to stay awake for most of the day and sleep great at night
  • beginning to coo when we talk to her
  • helping hold her head in midline when pulled to sit from supine
This past weekend we spent some time up at the lake. Both sets of grandparents were able to join us as well! There was a bit of drama getting up there. We started by driving through a huge storm on our way out of Dallas...Brooklyn slept through it. Then we got lost taking a new route in the fog...Brooklyn slept through it. Next we blew a boat trailer tire at 2 in the morning...Brooklyn slept through it. So we left the boat in town and Greg dropped Brooklyn and me off at the house. We fell asleep while Greg drove back in to town to sleep in the truck for 2 hours while waiting for the tire shop to open. Unfortunately neither of the shops in that town had trailer tires, so he had to drive to the next town over to buy one and then come back to have the tire placed on the trailer. He finally made it back around 9 in the morning and was ready for some wakeboarding! That same day I also popped one of the truck tires pulling the boat out of the water. Then Greg broke the lawn mower trying to mow grass that hadn't been touched for 2 months! At some point we decided that we should just lay low the rest of the day to avoid breaking anything else!

Hanging out with Grandma

The rest of the weekend was great! I was able to get behind the boat and do some knee boarding and wakeboarding for the first time in about a year! The weather was nice and it was so good seeing my parents again. Greg got to try out his new tower speakers on the boat and I've decided I need ear plugs if I'm going to be in the boat. Brooklyn was also treated like a celebrity at the local restaurant and church! And we were able to meet up with Greg's Memaw on our way through Texarkana and introduce Brooklyn to her.

Such a sweet girl!

Brooklyn is absolutely beautiful. We love seeing her pictures. Glad her 1 month checkup went well. It may be tiring that she stays up all day but be thankful if she sleeps all night. Hate to hear all that happened on the lake trip but at least Brooklyn did well and you guys spent time with family. We hope the rest of the week goes smoothly and talk soon on skype.

She is so sweet! I absolutely love the noises babies make--enjoy those sweet little coos because they don't last forever. We'd still love to babysit if you guys are dying for a date night. :) We just love little babies around here.

You are becoming quite the photographer Melissa! She is so so sweet :o) Poor Greg - your weekend could so have been our weekend. At least you realized when to give up and relax!
