Lisa's Grandma Weekend

It's been a while since I've posted, but I can explain! We've been busy traveling out of town and then the laptop had a Trojan horse on it, so we had to take everything off the computer so Greg could reformat it. But it seems to be better now! So on to the blog!

This weekend I just reinforced Greg's thinking that I'm a Grandma in disguise. Last weekend we went to Texarkana to visit family and friends and look at a lake house. (That story is below!) While we were up there, I saw that one of the family friends had the entire collection of the Twilight series. I've heard so many good things about it, so I decided to start reading the first book. Well, I thought I would just be able to read the first chapter and put it down...but it was too good! I read about 100 pages before I could even be distracted by the outside world! So they were nice enough to let me borrow the entire series. I've been reading every spare second I've had since then! I just started the third book and have been staying up way too late at night! I just want to read one more chapter and of course that turns in to THREE more!
Another "Grandma" thing that I learned this weekend was knitting! It's a lot of fun! Greg's mom, her friend and I went to a class and learned all the basics. I think the purl stitch is most difficult to remember. But I'm trying! Who knows, maybe I'll have a full wardrobe for the baby whenever they come! OK, maybe knit outfits won't be the best in August.
And I've been so worn out lately that I've been taking 3 hour naps in the middle of the day! I think I'm going to have to start setting my alarm so I don't sleep that long. Fortunately I'm still tired enough at night to go to bed at a decent hour...if I'm not reading!
So on to the lake house in Arkansas. We finally found one that we liked and the owners accepted our offer! The house has 3 bedrooms and 1 bath (yikes!). But the floor and kitchen are completely redone. It's on 3 acres and borders the Core property, so hopefully we can get a permit for a dock at some point.

My "favorite" room is this bedroom. I swear I almost got so dizzy I fell down looking at this wallpaper. And the other two walls are stripes! I don't know what they were thinking! Even on the computer it makes me nauseous! We're going to remove that this weekend when we're up there to close on the house!

Greg also decided that you can't have a lake house without an ATV. So he got himself one of those as well. They scare me, so I don't know that I'll partake in any of that "fun".

And now what you've all been waiting for...more pregnancy pictures! OK, maybe not. But I decided to put a front shot on for Katie. Just know that I took these pictures with the timer on the camera. That's why it looks like I'm looking down at the camera. It was balancing precariously on Greg's Rock Band drum throne stacked on an Aero bed box. It was quite interesting to say the least. These are the best shots I could get! So here I am at week 12.

We went to a high risk OBG on Monday for 1st trimester screening. Everything looked good and we should get the official results in a couple days. The best part was that the ultrasound was displayed on a 60" plasma! It was awesome! Greg took pictures with his iphone. Hopefully I can download them to put on the blog. I think Greg is going to make us switch OBG's just so he can see all the ultrasounds on the plasma! The screen makes it look like I have a 5-year-old growing inside! Unfortunately the pictures she printed out weren't that good. So we'll just have to wait for the next one from the boring sonogram!

No more tail...hopefully!

We're in the 10th week now and I'm feeling pretty good. I've been a little more sleepy than normal, but nothing a mid-afternoon nap can't help! I took two this weekend and still fell asleep on the couch fairly early each night. I think I'm going to have to start sleeping during my lunch when I'm at work! My newest cravings have been any type of doritos and sub sandwiches. I know I'm not supposed to have deli meat, but that's all I've wanted lately. Oh, and I almost burst into tears at dinner the other night. No reason...just a combination of being overly tired and all those hormones! From the books and websites I've been reading, the 10th week is the time that the embryonic tail has disappeared completely and the brain is growing at an increadible rate. Cool stuff!

This is the 10 week picture. Starting to show a little to the outside world, although really it just looks like I stuffed my face at Cici's (which sounds delicious right about now)! I don't know why it looks like my jeans are about to pop! I promise there is enough room in them! I did get my Belly Belt that I ordered. I'm so excited to use it! I can wear all my regular pants until I get REALLY big!

In other news...Greg and I were on a walk the other night and saw some cop cars and a tow truck in the next neighborhood over. So of course we had to go see what was going on. It was dark, but we could tell that the tow truck was having trouble getting a van onto the flatbed. And there was some serious metal grinding noises going along with it. So we walked a little closer and saw that the van drove through someone's fence and was stuck! I couldn't believe it! I wanted to get pictures that night, but it was really dark and I don't think the police officers would have stopped what they were doing so I could get pictures for the blog! So we decided to come back the next day to see the damage up close.

They put up some random fence-like thing. But if you look close, you can see that the van barely missed going into their swimming pool! We're not sure what happened. From what the police officers were saying, it sounded like no one was seriously injured. Just a little excitement for the unsuspecting home owners!

Hope everyone has a good week!

Lots of updates!

I've been pretty lazy about posting lately. I think there are three or four new posts. Make sure you read past the Bachelorette weekend...there is a very exciting post! I just started it a while back, so it posted earlier than the others! Go UT!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We spent Christmas in St. Louis this year and had a wonderful time visiting with family and friends. There was also lots of shopping, eating, and sleeping in! The weather was pretty nice, although it wasn't in the 70's like it was in Dallas! Unfortunately we were too lazy to get pictures. This was the only picture I took all weekend. As you can see, I didn't wake up until after my mom had cleared the tree of all its lights, ornaments and presents. Oops! Trust me, it looked great decorated and smelled really good! We did take family pictures, so hopefully we'll get those back soon! I can't wait to see them! I'll post them as soon as I get them.

We were back in Dallas for New Years. We had friends over to our house for a relaxing dinner. Then the boys went outside and played laser tag. Then we made a brief stop over to one of Greg's mom's friend's house to play a little Rock Band with a smoke and lights show! Our next stop was to Shuan and Desiree's house for more food and more Rock Band! They played until 11:59:45 and then we watched the countdown from Victory Plaza in Dallas. As soon as that was done, it was back to more Rock Band until 3 in the morning! I was so tired by the end of the night. Unfortunately I was just getting started on a cold, so I didn't sleep very well...and neither did Greg since I apparently tossed and turned all night! I am feeling much better now and was able to catch up on sleep this weekend. So tonight I'll be able to stay up late cheering on UT! Hopefully our satellite will stay on. We've had freezing rain all day! Here are some pictures I took this afternoon.

I'm guessing there won't be any jumping on the trampoline any time soon! And to think it was 75 this weekend! Crazy Texas weather!

Greg's Snowbird trip

Posted by Picasa
These are some pictures from Greg's trip to Snowbird a couple weeks ago. From what I hear, they had a really good time. The weather when they got there was less than desirable. Apparently the clock and thermometer at the top of the mountain was broken because it was so cold! But the next couple days turned out to be really nice. It looks really nice! Hopefully I'll be invited to the next trip!

Oh, and how fun is the Picasa program?! I felt like a professional artist creating the collage. OK, maybe not, but it was super easy! I love it! Expect more to come!
